TIER PAHTATUA SEAT. ' V . By Telegraph—Press Association. • Pahiatua, Wednesday. Mr, J. H, Eseott, Opposition candidate for the Pahiatua. seat, spolce here last night. He expressed alarm at the increase of the National debt, condemned the delay in settling native lands, and referred to the 12,000 acres closed te settlement in this district. He urged that land neaded by the natives should he reserved for them, and the remainder should bo purchased by the Crown and the purchase money paid into the Publio Trust Office to lie at "interest till the titles were determined. Thus delay in determination of titles he avoided. Mr. Eseott generally expounded the Opposition platform. A vote of thanks was passed. INVERCARGILL SEAT. Invercargill, Last Night. -Mr. 11. J. Farrant, Labor candidate * for invercargill, addressed the electors to-night, and was well received. His platform was that of the Labor Party. Incidentally he said that graft and corruption were fairly common iti the conntry, mill that it was time the worker* took a hand in the game and endeavored to right the wrong, THE DULLER SEAT. Westport, Last Night. In rosponse to a requisition signed by 154 workers, Mr. F. F. Munro, candidate at last general elections, announced that he would contest the Buller seat at the forthcoming elections with Mr. J. Colvin. the sitting member. Mr. Munro declared himself Independent Labor, and tooth and nail against the present administration, and predicted there would be shtillling of the cards after the elections and ail absolutely new party formed. THE RICCARTON SEAT. Christcliurch, Last Night. In response to the representations of ft large deputation, Mr. C. H. Elisor consented to stand for Riccarton as an Independent Oppositionist, and stated that on a. question of no confidence he would vote against the Ward government.
