THE WAIRARAPA SHOW. ' By Telegraph—Press Association. Carterton, Yesterday. The Wairarapa show, opening to-mor-i row and Thursday, promises to be the' best yet held. His Excellency the Governor and party will be present. The entries in all classes are very good. GISBORNE SHOW. Gisborne, Yesterday. iFor the first day of the A. and P. Show there was glorious weather and a good attendance. Entries number 1204, being a slight advance on last year. AN ALCOHOLIC WINE. Gisborne, Yesterday. The Magistrate dismissed the information against charges with selling Molendo wine, holding that it was no offence provided the chemist takes reasonable precautions to ascertain that the wine is required for medicinal purposes, and not as a beverage. There was no restraint as to the percentage of proof spirit, and the door was open to great abuse. ■ FURNITURE TRADE DISPUTE. Wellington, Yesterday. The furniture trade dispute, which has given rise to several scenes in the piist, again came before the' Conciliation Council to-day, when good progres' was made. Everything proceeded! smoothly. The Council will also take evidence in country districts. A SHORTAGE OF FRUIT. Wellington, Yesterday. , In consequence of the strike in Sydney no fruit supplies are coming by this week's steamer. As local supplies are short, increased priceg are looked for.
