DREADFUL WEATHER.
GREYMOUTIT AWASH. DAMAGE BY FLOODS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Greymouth, Last Night. The weather being experienced here is fearful. Rain has fslien unceasingly since eleven last nijht The liver has been steadily rising since morning, and huge trees are coming down which iii)'licate that the waters are reaching high levels in the country. It is reported that there is much damage done to the railway line at Otira and Reefton, and the. trains will be interrupted as the river is rapidly rising and is only two feet off the bank. The •lire.bell was rung at 10.45 to-night to warn business men, resident in the lower paTt of the town, who are now busily engaged removing stock. There is every indication of the business portion of the town being; flooded. Five vessels are in port and their masters are having an anxious time owing to the boisterous weather. The Jockey Club's ground is under water, and the meeting has been postponed till Thursday. The Trotting Club meeting will be held today weather permitting.
