LOXDOX DAIRY PRODUCE REPORT. Messrs E. Griffiths and Co. are in receipt of the following market report from their London principals, Messrs Mills ami Sparrow, dated London, September 8, 1011: — The weather shows no signs of breaking: in fact, the heat has returned this week with renewed vigor. The posi tion in the country is now very serious, there being no green feed at all for the cattle, and the hay crop, although a good one as regards quality, is undoubtedly small in quantity. In nearly all parts of the country stocks of cattle are considerably less'than they were in the spring, and the supply of milk is hardly sufficient to meet requirements. Danish: The 0 kroner reduction last week had the effect of bringing on more orders, and yesterday the quotation was unchanged, although buyers generally expected that it would be two to four kroners down.
Siberian: There are about 8000 casks to hand this week t and as last week's arrivals did' not clear, sellers have reduced prices somewhat, which has resulted in a better demand, and the market closes fairly firm. French: The condition as regards butter from this quarter is very unsatisfactory. The hot weather has had a serious effect on the quality, and it is chiefly owing to this that prices have been reduced. There is no increase in the production, and we are afraid that there is not likely to be any from now onward, as the return of the heat, wave has spoiled any chance that there seemed to be a week or so ago. Irish: Prices here are also much easier, and this has brought on a better demand.
Australian: A few butters have been landed this week per the Otwnv and the Aeneas. The quali tv is satisfactory, and far suiierior to anything else on the market, it having been made in cool weather, and they are in marked contrast to the butters that are on the market from other countries. Trade has been rather quiet on stored goods, but we have no doubt that during the next week or so tilings will improve, and we feel certain that all these butters will be wan led. Xew Zealand: There is no spot trade, everything having been cleared, but sales are ntill being made for forward delivery at about last week's prices. Cheese.--'The market has not quite stood last week's rise, and as most buyers filled their requirements then, it lias naturally been a little quiet this week, with the result that where sales have been made, prices have been at a reduction of Is to "2s. There is no doubt that the future of the cheese market is stronger than ever, as owing to the continued hot. dry weather which we have recorded from time to time, the make of the cheese in both England and Scotland will lie very small indeed, and we see nothing before ns but high prices for the cheese right through tlu 1 coming season.
