The Cambrian colliers resolved that an investigation of the dismissed man's grievances by the Workmen's Committee ought to precede the strike. Deputations interviewed the management and withdrew the demand for reinstatement. Work is being resumed today. MT. LYELL DISPUTE. THE REAL SUFFERERS TAKE ACTION. Hobart, October 18. A meeting of the women of Queenstown decided to ask the miners to take a secret ballot to decide whether the question of the reinstatement of White be dropped, and also to ask White to leave the district; also that the president and secretary of the union be asked to resign. Received 19, W.a, 1 ! a.m. Hobart. October 18.
Many residents are leaving the Lyell district. There is much adverse criticism over the labor leaders' attitude regarding the strike.
