BISHOP MULES INJURED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Nelson, Yesterday. ■Bishop and Mrs. Mules sustained a painful accident while driving ; ra ; the city last evening. When turning a steep corner the horse slipped on the wet pavement and fell, capsizing the gig, and the occupants were thrown out. Mrs. Mules escaped with a slight sha"king, but the Bishop sustained several cuts about the head. ELDER lA' MAX DROWNED. Masteri'fm. .'Last Night. An elderly man named William Bryant was found drowned in the Taneru river at Bideford to-day. He had evidently slipped and fallen into the water, and being stunned was unable to extricate himself. At the ii?<mest this afternoon a verdict was returned of deatli from misadventure. HUMAN -SKELETON DUG UP. 'Whangarei. Last Night. At Whangarei. when (figging in a town garden to-day, a local resident unearthed a human skeleton, probably that of a "girl,.at a depth of only eighteen inches. Nothing is known positively connecting the discovery with a crime, but it is reported that a girl was 'missing from the house on the section a number of years ago. KNOCKED DOWN BY TRAIN. Auckland,' Last Night. .A (leaf and dumb girl, aged five years, lamed Eunice Costley, was knocked down by it train and severely injured on the railway crossing at Newmarket this afternoon. iSlie resides with her grandfather near the crossing, and had started to go on a visit to her aunt. She was crossing the line when the Kaipara train came along. She was knocked down by the engine and rendered unconscious. She was taken to .the hospital, Where it was fomid that she was suffering from a severe concussion of the brain. The brakes were applied when the child was first seen, but the distance was too short to enable the train :to pull' up.
