Received 16, 8.5 p.m. Sidney, October 16. The damage at Smith and Copeland's fire amounted to over £20,000. FEDERAL NAVAL COLLEGE. Received 27, 12.40 a.m. Sydney, October 16. The Commonwealth Government propose to establish a naval college at Port Hacking at a cost of £IOO,OOO, whereof £35,000 is promised from the Dreadnought Fund. It is expected to be complete within a year. GREAT STORM AT BROKEN TTTT.T., Received 17, 1 a.m. Sydney, October 16. A phenomenal rainstorm occurred at Broken Hill, and a number of residents were flooded out. Considerable damage was done. There was the biggest rise in the dams for thirty years.
