At the inquest on the M'acLeav victims, Petersen, the survivor, gave evidence as to the chief officer changing the course set by the captain. The steamer shortly afterwards struck, and the captain ordered the lifeboat out and rockets to be got ready. They were trying to get the vessel round to beach her when she sank. When the chief officer toid the captain the course he had been steering the captain replied, "Oh, you murderer!" Amongst the wreckage picked up in the vicinity of the MacLeav disaster was a quantity from the Rosedale and a name-board from the overdue Peruvian barque Tnea,
