Two hundred and eighty-three started in tli© Warnnambool road race. The weather was fine, though there were blinding clouds of dust. The roads were good to Geelong, but afterwards were patchy. .There was a great finish. Collins (handicap 34min), Tebbs (42min), Lessing (40min), Hughes (34min), and Slaney (44min) finished in that order. Alt the Victorians finished in a ibumch, Collins securing the victory by half a wheel in Bhrs 45mins Usee. Lessing entered a protest that Collins caught hold of his saddle in the final spurt. O'Shea, New Zealand, the scratch man, made the fastest time, Bhrs 18mins 44sec. Melbourne, October 115. Collins denies that he interfered with any rid'er. The protest will be heard by the League of Wheelmen. O'Shea was the only New Zealander to occupy a prominent place. AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS. Received 10, 12.25 a.m. Brisbane, October 15.
