THE INSURANCE BTLL. London, October 13. Tho national conference of friendly societies at Edinburgh, representing a membership of four millions, rejected a proposal to urge, ithe Government to postpone the Insurance Bill for a year, and resolved that while accepting the main provisions of the Bill it demanded alterations, conferring self-government ou approved societies, majority representation on the health committees, and that the earners of over £IOO per annum should he. permitted to become voluntary subscribers without Government subsidy. Failing these concessions it recommended all societies strenuously 'to oppose the Bill.
