.DUNEDIN NORTH SEAT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. Mr. J. Loudon, Ministerial candidate for Dunedin North, addressed a meeting of electors to-night. He supported the Liberal Government for the reason that he believed its policy had been of infinitely greater benefit to the great body of (the people than any legislation they could have hoped for from the opposite side. He referred to the public debt, asserting that they had splendid assets to show for their liability, and this, he submitted, was a true test of financial stability. With proper restrictions guarding the State from monopoly for speculative purposes, he favored 'the freehold, but would just as vigorously oppose any system of 'freehold permitting ag-' gregation of big estates and the locking up of lands. He said the Opposition proposed to confiscate native lands, and contended that such proceedings could bo justified were there no open lands available _ for settlement. He received a unanimous vote of thanks.
