ESSENTIALS NEGLECTED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington. Yesterday. Tine Education Board this morning carried a motion endorsing an opinion of the district inspectors that recitation was neglected, and urging that greater attention be paid to elocution in the schools'. In the course- of the discussion members spoke, pessimistically of the inability of scholar* and cx-3cliota.ro to speak and write English correctly, and ■ the opinion was expressed that the syllabus devoted too much attention to subjects -which gave no training for the battle of life.
