AX ATTEMPT ABANDONED. By Telograpli—Press Association. Duncdin, Last Night. Mr. D. P. McKay, secretary of the Otago ■branch of the Athletic and Cycling Union, received a telegram to-night from Oldham, who set out from Ohristehurch this morning with the object of lowering the unpaced cycling record to Dunedin, stating he had abandoned the attempt. The telegram was sent from Palmerston at 8.40 p.m.
