PROVIDING FOR FINANCES. By Cable—Press Association—Oonyright London, October (1. At the Church Congress Lord Barnard, clmiriimn of the finance committee, advocated the introduction into Britain of a scheme popular in Canada and the United States, whereby every parishioner assisted by regular contributions, the smallest of which was a halfpenny weekly. The recommendation was genera]])- approved. Canon Ostooni detailed the working of the diocesan fund at Brisbane.
THE RESURRECTION. Received 8, ■!>.') p.m. i»ndon, October 8. At the Church Congress there were many complaints' made that the dogma of the resurrection had been dropped from religions teaching except at Eastertide.
The Dean of Lichfield said that without the re.-urrcetion Christianity was only one of the main religious systems, groping pathetically after (iod. Other speakers described the doctrine of a risen, living, ever-present and active Lord as the motive power of the Christian's life and work. Hence the dogma of the resurrection ought to be restored to its old predominating place in sermon, workship and the sacraments.
