Police-Inspector Wilson was in New Plymouth yesterday. .Mr. E. Oallichan, one of the Liberal Party's organisers, was in Xew Plymouth yesterday. Mr. J. Davidson, who has been a director of the Imglewood Cooperative Bacon Co. for twelve years, has missed only three meetings in the whole of that time. Mr. J. W. Foreman, chairman of the Clifton County Council, is at present confined to his home by illness, anil was absent from yesterday's Council' meeting. Mr. A. J. Simson. on the staff of the Bank of Xew South Wales, Xew Plymouth, has been promoted to the Patea branch, where he will act as accountant and teller. A Sydney cable states that Madame Melba ha* recovered from her illness, and will probably reappear on Monday. It is estimated that her enforced absence has meant a loss of £ 6OOO in thotakings of her grand opera company.
