He. expressed surprise at a statement that a 2'/ a per cent, deduction from totalisator receipts would yield over ,the .C/iOO.OOO required for the maintenance of hospitals. The gambling turnover, he said, must be terrible. He. considered it positively | scandfilous that women should be allowed to 'bet.
