WHY IT FAILS. „..-■ i.., - ' w~a!. .3rarBy Cable—Press Association—Copyright London, October 4, At the Church Congress at Stokc-on-Tr»nt, Dr. Diggle, Bishop of Carlisle, in an address on clericalism, said it was a canker whitll many countries were ruthlessly abolishing by a process painful, but inevitable and necessary. Dr. Ingram-, Bishop of London, considered it equally critical that the church was taking no heed of the passionate desire for heaven on earth, which was the basis of the Labor movement. The latter was definitely religious movement. The reason of the Church of England's want of influence was hecause it was still a class church, apt to like the poor so long as they kept their proper places.
