METHODIST CHURCH
The quarterly meeting of the New Plymouth circuit of the Methodist Church of Australasia was held on Monday evening. There were present: Rovs. J. W. Burton, F. P. Kellow, and a fair number of church officials. Jt boing the j meeting at which arrangements are entered imto with the ministers, hearty > invitations were given to, and accepted by the Uevs. .1. \V. Burton and V. P. Kellow. Encouraging progress for the. quarter was reported in all departments of church work. Membership returns show an increase, despite several removals and death*. The balance-sheet, after deducting special collections for credit of i!i(i. Two new Sunday schools, foreign missions mim! trust, shows a one at Franklcigh Park and tlie other at i Upland road, were opened during tho quarter with very satisfactory attendances. Permission was .given to tho local committee; at Franklcigh Park to purchase a half-acre of land ami erect a Sunday School thereon. A committee was .set up to confer with the Primitive Methodist officials of New Plymouth regarding the future working of the circuit in the event of union. Messrs. Victor Griffiths and C. W. Hooker were elected substitute representatives to the Synod. Throughout the meeting a distinct feeling, of hopefulness prevailed, and pleased reference was made to the large number of young men now attendin; the services.
