It will he twenty-four years on the 2Sth of this month since'the Hon. T. Mackenzie was first elected to Parliament.

The death is announced of Mr. John Squire Cole, of Tikorangi, after a residence in that district of many years. The interment takes place to-day tit the Tikorangi cemetery. A Sydney cablegram reports the death of Captain Pearson, well known in' the Xew Zealand timber trade; and also of Stirling Whvte, an actor who frequently toured New Zealand. A well-known figure in Marlborough has passed away in the person of Mr. Montagu Adams, who served for some fifty years in the New Zealand police force. He was a sergeant in the force in 'Marlborough ill the early sixties. For some time he was clerk to the local Magistrate's Court and to the Havelock Town Board, but latterly has lived in retirement.
