THE LAW CLUB. At the annual meeting of the Law Cricket Cliib the following report was I presented by the committee: —'"Your committee have pleasure in presenting the report and balance-sheet for the 1010-11 season. The club may congratulate itself upon the particularly successful season it enjoyed. Matches were fmjuent, and the games proved most cr.joyaMe. In a number of instances the issue was in doubt till the end of the game, mid the games were keenly contested in the best sporting spirit. We trust the coming season will prove as good. Our team came through the competition in n good position, being level with United Service for top place. In the play-off with United Service our worthy opponents scored a victory. The club may, however, 'be well satisfied with securing such a -good position in the cup competition in its first season. The trophies kindly presented to the club were woir as follows: —Mr. Quil--1 jam's bat. won by Mr. Greatbatch with •25.5 for best batting average; Mrs. Turnbull's bat was awarded to Mr. Harding as the player showing most improvement during the season. The bal-ance-sheet, while showing a deficiency on the season's transactions, is, we consider, very satisfactory. Our expenses were necessarily heavy in starting a new club, both in material and in preparing a wicket, and with such a limited membership our revenue is necessarily very small. The club's thanks are due to the gentlemen who have become honorary members, and whose kind support has substantially helped the club's finances. During the season the club has lost the services of a valuable working member in the position of secretary and trea--uror by the departure to Wanganui of Mr. Frank Turnbull." Officers were elected as follow: President, Mr. J. 11. Quilliam; vicepresidents, Messrs. A. H. Johnstone and J. E. Wilson; club captain, Mr. E. Lash; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr. Paton; auditor, Mr. S. Cottier; committee, Messrs. Hill, Bewley and Lawrev, and captain and secretary (exofficio); selection committee, Messrs. Clapham and Paton.
The rules were amended to admit bona fide law students as members of the club. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the press for the space and attention given to the game.
