WHAT LABOR IS FIGHTING FOR
AN IRREDUCIBLE STANDARD OF COMFORT. By Cable —Press Association —Copyright. Received 1, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, October 1. Speaking at the Eight Hour annual dinner, Mr. Fisher, Federal Premier, declared that what the Labor Party was fighting for was a standard of comfort below which the wife and family of no worker should have to exist. The Federal Government were taking care that the prosperous years were not causing them to run riot and so bring disaster on the toiling masses when the lean years came. The whole of the interest from the note issue was being held in reserve against a national calamity or providing for the extinguishment of the national indebtedness. Referring to the late referendum, he intended to make another appeal to the country.
