ALPINE MURDER CHASE.
FLIGHT AXD PURSUIT OVER MOXT BLAXC RAXG.E. Oeneva, duly 27. ■'•'An -exciting chase after a, murderer, across a spur of the Mont Ulanc range, took place yesterday, and the fugitive was : filially arrested, and handcuffed at ■ a height of 7700 ft by gendarmes and Alpinists. Three young Italian workmen \ycre repairing the Alpine hut at Rosairey, near the summit of the Tournette, a mountain near Oeneva, when two of them, named Dielcemino and (Juelpa, quarrelled. The former drew a knife and stabbed his companion, who died almost immediately. Dielcemino then lied across the mountains in the direction of the Swiss frontier, with the object of reaching (leneva. Two Alpinists who had witnessed the, murder abandoned their excursion and, hastened down to Thones to inform the police. Two gendarmes thereupon started; in - pursuit of the murderer, accompanied by the Alpinists.
Meanwhile, Dielcemino had descended the Tournette, and. after crossing the valley, began the ascent of the more difficult Col de Montrcmont. Owing to the great heat, the pursuers were at a disadvantage, for the fugitive proved an expert climber..: Mowovw, he left the ordinary paths and risked his life among precipices in order to gain on his pursuers.
Finally the murderer showed signs of exhaustion, and he. sat down on a 1 rock to rest. The gendarmes drew their revolvers when they came within range and threatened to shoot him unless he surrendered. Thereupon Dielcemino allowed himself to lie handcuffed and led to Thones.
