FINED FOR CONTEMPT. 6y Cable—Press Association—Copyright Received 22, 11.45 p.m. Melbourne, September 22. Smart, publisher of the newspaper Herald, was fined £2OO, and Davidson, the editor, t-100 and three days' im-' prisonment for alleged contempt in publishing articles in connection with the Peacock case. Davidson's sentence was suspended on his entering a bond of £lO for good behaviour.
