BRUTAL MURDERS. FIENDISH MOB RUN RIOT. A PLOT NIPPED IN THE BUD. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 22, 1\ p.m. Madrid, September 22. An outrage occurred at Gullera. The judge and chief constable were chased by revolutionists. The former took refuge in the town hall, aided by the actuary. Meanwhile the chief constable was stabbed and thrown into the river, and stoned until he sank. The mob forced an entrance into the town hall, split the judge's skull with a hatchet, and stabbed the actuary. They dragged the bodies through the streets until they were unrecognisable. Many strikers are resuming work. A revolutionary band is terrorising Valencia.
An attempt was made to burn the Duke of Grandia's palace, but was frustrated. The mob looted a number of municipal safes.
The troops are pursuing the mob. A warship with five hundred troops has arrived at Ferrol.
f The authorities have secured detaiis jof a carefully planned anarchist plot, to j which the strikes were intended to pave ;the way. Attacks were planned on consents, barracks and public buildings. A j stock of bottles .filled with explosives iwas prepared. All members of the ex- ' ecutive were arrested, nipping the movement in the bud.
