FITZROY FLOWER SHOW.

A SUCCESSFUL AFFAIR. The first annua] flower show in connection with the Fitzroy Primitive Methodist Church was held yesterday, and the success that attended'it was so pronounced that it is certain to become an annual a/lair. The show was formally opened by Mr. A. W. Wood, and throughout the afternoon and evening the hall was crowded. There were some splendid floral displays, including exhibitions by several of our prominent, horticulturist*. Mr. Xewton King showed some magnificent blooms, including .Japanese 1 iris, primroses, polyanthus, hvaeinths, daffodils and pot plants. Mr. 15. Cock had a wide range of blooms, which also comprised some bunches of violets. Oncsidc of the hall was taken up by Mr. Frethoy's display of blooms, which was quite a show in itself. Mrs, Frecthey also entered a decorated table centre for exhibition only. It was much admired. Mrs. Charteris showed a nice ranger of anemone, mid ranunculi. The Marshead Nursery Company's show of pot plants and flowers, and Mr. Baltimore's artificial (lowers attracted much favorable comment.

In the. evening the hull presented a very animated appearance, and business appeared to be brisk. The jumble stlill, in charge of Mesdam.es Kibby, Pepperill ami others, did good trade, as did also the sweets stall, m charge of Miss Foote, aiwl the refreshment* stall, where Mesdames Hall, Bellringer and Griffiths, with a willing stair of assistants, were kept busy. ' The shooting gallery, in charge of Master Clow, found much favor, whilst Mie little girls were very busy in dispersing button holes. The committee all worked very hard, special credit being due to the secretary (Air. Cvril Bellringer). FLORAL COMPETITIONS. The floral competitions resulted as follows r—Deeorated tables (novice class), Mis* Winnie Sole 1. Miss Ethel Linn 2. the winning table was a most artistic creation.

Miss Kthel Lind was Hist for bridal bouquet.

Miss Bessie Charteris was awarded second for bridesmaid's bouquet. In decorated mantels (here were two * tor exhibition only that the judges pronounced very good. Thev were respectively the work of .Miss Foote and Miss W Mime Sole.

The judges were Mesdames R. Co<?fc, and Webster and Miss Deveniah. The committee desires to express their thanks to the various exhibitors, all of whom presented their displays of cut blooms to tho committee for disposal, thereby augmenting the funds.
