THE MOKAU LANDS

YESTERDAY'S PROCEEDINGS. By Telegraph—Press Association, Wellington, Thursday.

The Mokau inquiry was resumed today. Thomas William Fisher, UnderSecretary for Xative Affaire, made a statement relating to the application for and issuing of an Order-in-Council. Witness! suggested that Mr. Bowler's service as trustee should lie remunerated, but that remuneration he paid into the public account and not to Mr. Bowler. In witness's opinion the block, when roaded and settled, would not be worth more than £70:000. Since 1001) thirteen Orders-in-C'nuncil regarding Xative lands had been issued, the areas concerned ■varying from 1 to SOOO acres. This was all the evidence taken today. There will be no more witnesses, though possibly Mr. Jones will be granted -permission to make a statement to-morrow.
