BARQUE DRIFTS ASHORE.
FATE OP THE CAELA. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, Thursday. The barijucsntine Carla, which waa abandoned about four miles from the entrance to the Wangunui river on Monday night, dragged her anchors last night and drifted close to the shore between Castlecliff and Kai-Iwi, about six miles north of where she was abandoned, No particulars are available, though it it 'believed that if prompt steps are taken she can be made secure. The weather haa moderated considerably, though it is still blowing.
IN AN' EASY POSITION. THE DECKS AWASH. Wangamti, Last Night. The (tola lies with her head to the sea in a very easy position on a soft sandy bottom about 150 yards from the shore, and about two miles north of the cable station. The vessel apparently is undamaged, and, if the weather takes up, is in a good position for refloating. The hatch cover* appear to he off, the decks are awash, and a donkey boiler is adrift. The vessel is only taking the wave tops aboard, and is not now being buffeted by the sen, which has gone down considerably since yesterday. The local agents are awaiting a cable tfrom the owners at Denmark before taking steps to refloat the vessel.
