A London cablegram reports the death of the Rev. Robinson Duckworth, Canon of Westminster. Mr. W. S. Fisher, official assignee of Auckland, is on a visit to New Plymouth. Mr. H. S. Fitzhcrbert, S.M., was a passenger by yesterday's mail train en route for Sydney. Mr. J. H. Boeock, late of the local office of the New Zealand Insurance Co., who was transferred to the Dunedin branch, has returned as head clerk of the local office.

Mrs. Crossley, wiFe of the Bishop of this diocese, was present at the church coniferenec last night. The association of the Girls' Friendly Society are arranging a social gathering at St. Mary's Hall on Saturday afternoon to enable the women of the parish to meet Mrs. Crossley. Mr. F. Ti. Flatman, ex-M.P. for Geraldine, died yesterday, He was a very old settler in the district, arriving in 186*2, savvniilling and storekeeping from 1865 to ISD2, and subsequently farming. He represented (leraldine in four Parliaments. He served on most local bodies, including the Tinumi and Gladstone Board of Works nnd the Timaru Harbor Board.—Press Association.

There was a. fairly large congregation at St. Mary's Church, yesterday morning when two young Maori ministers, Revs. M. P. Kapa and P. Topi, were ordained by the Bishop of Auckland. The service was cf a. very impressive character. The Revs. Kapa. and Topi are the finst Maoris to be ordained priests in Taranaki, and it was also the first ordination conducted by Bishop Crossley since he became Bishop of the diocese. They were presented by the Rev, H. A. Hawkins, superintendent of the Maori mission. The gospel was read by Rev. Kapa, the -Rev. Houchcr acted as chaplain, the acting-vicar, Rev. C. A. Wilkinson, read the litany, and the Rev. W. Butler 'preached, the ordination sermon. Rev. Kapa will be stationed at Mercer, Wa.ika.to, and the Rev. Topi in the Bay of Islands.
