WANGANUI SESSIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, Wednesday. At the Supreme Court John Whelan was sentenced to six months' imprisonment (for using indecent language to a school girl. GISBOUNE SESSIONS. Gisborne, Wednesday. William McMnrray, who was convicted of breaches of the Bankruptcy Act, was sentenced to three months 'imprisonment without hard labor, and on a charge of concealing and removing property, and not keeping proper books, to two months' imprisonment without hard lalx>r. The sentences arc concurrent. The judge took into consideration the prisoner's age and the fact that he had boon already four months in gaol. Geoiige Brown, a half-caste, pleaded guilty to wounding a cow, and was sentenced to a month's imprisonment, and ordered to pay £lO towards the cost of the prosecution. Gisboriie, Last Night.
At the Supremo <'oui't to-day throe men, Halmgood, Brown and Stewart, were acquitted on the charge of entering the premises of a widow at midnight and demanding food with intent to steal it.
John Walker and Chas. Mcßae were acquitted 011 a charge of false pretences in obtaining a cheque for £0 from Prank Pattullo, shccpfarmer.
