: OUR MISS GIBBS. "Our Miss Gibbs," the record-breaking musical comedv. will be presented here [ by Mr. J. C. Williamson's Royal Comic /Opera Company on .Monday and TuesP day next. Our Miss Gibbs, dainty and J very demure, who has been exercising a I wonderful charm on the Australian side for the past twelve months, will be seen here for the first time on Monday next ; at a quarter to «. It is safe to say that the play is possessed of an extraordinary amount of magnetism, and the t unprecedented run of the piece is the talk of the whole of the Continent. Miss Blanche Browne is the leading lady of Mr. J. C. Williamson's Royal Comic Opera Company, wlio plays "Miss Gibbs" in the brilliant musical comedy. It is said that the graceful and talented comedienne, tripping lightly through the ''Romance of a Shop Girl," preserves a charm and delicate feminity that never fails to win universal adm'iration. Imbued with passion and poetry, it is said the piece has the color and bloom and the music of life. It is replete with features and novel effects, not the least of which is the antonishing "danse ilu Vanrien" executed by Mr. Fred Leslie and Miss Ivy Schilling in the second act. The company thai will interpret ' Our Miss Gibbs" is patently first-class. | Never before, possibly, has* the Royal Comic Opera Company been equipped with so many star artists. Two newcomers, Mr. Leslie Holland and Mr. Bertie Wright, are arriving with the best credentials, both being for several years i prominent members of the Gaiety "Theatre in London. A special feature of the production is promised in the costuming, which is said to be the most elaborate and costly of any previous Williamson presentation . The hox plans for the season will be open at Collier's on Thursday. Notwithstanding the increased expense in bringing "Our Miss Gibbs" to New Plymouth in its entirety, it is announced that no advance on the usual Royal Comic Opera prices will be made. It is interesting to .know that the plav will be produced here in exactly tho same manner as obtained in Melbourne and Sydney, everything concerned in the production being exactly the same. Says a leading New Zealand contemporary: "Miss Blanche Browne is the quintessence of charm. Her grace and r daintiness arc irresistible, and she wins all hearts in front as readily as she is supposed to conquer those behind the scenes. In 'Moonstruck,' a whimsical song and dance of the follies, Miss Browne's voice is peculiarly well suited and her graceful dancing something to be grateful for. The haunting refrain of her song 'Mary' ensures its success, and her two duets with Mr. Bertie Wright, 'Country Cousins' and 'Our larm,* are excellent numbers. Miss Browne's acting is bright and dainty, with a touch of genuine pathos-tare aiid there."
