XEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. The annual meeting of the Xew Plymouth Cricket Club was held last night. The. weather wa- very inclement anil ther« was only a moderate attendance. Mr. E. Whittle presided. The report as published in yesterday morning's News was read, as was also the balance-sheet, which showed that receipts amounted to £32 13s fid, being members' subs. £2O 10s; donations £3 ISs, Law Club, half cost of pitch on Tukapa ground, £1 his Od. The expenditure was £2."> 13s, the principal items being: Material £.j IDs !)d, laying pitch Tukapa ground £3 13s, subs, to Sports Ground £5, affiliation fee X.P.C.A. £2 12« fid. The liabilities were nil, and the assets £27 13s, consisting of cash in hand £7 0s lid, material £lB, and outstanding subs. £2 12s Cd.
Mr. Whittle, in moving the adoption ol the report and balance-sheet, congratulated the club on its healthy position, due in a large measure to the energetic secretary, who haU spared no time and expense in the club's interest, and had also been backed up by an energetic committee. The report was adopted.
Officers were cliH-ted as follows: President, lion. 0. Samuel. M.L.C.; vicepresidents, Messrs. D. Teed, X. Bewley, and Dr. Walker; club captain. iMr. 15. Whittle; lion, secretary anil treasurer, Mr. M. (!. Williams; committee, Messrs. X. Arden, W. C. Weston, 11. J. Price, and W. P. Xicoll. witli the club captain, team captains and secretary ex officio; delegate to Sports ground committee, Mr. If. Stocker; lion, auditor, Mr. A. Closs; delegates to the North Taranaki Cricket Association. Messrs. W. P. Kicoll. E. Whittle. M. G. Williams, Gordon and X. Arden. The selection committee will lie elected by the general committee.
It was resolved to again invito tli6 High School, West. Knd and Central schools to nominate two members each as members of the club.
It was decided to enter a senior and junior team in the Thursday competition, and also a team in the ■Saturday competition.
It was resolved that Thursday, September 28, be the opening day. The question of a flaying ground was mentioned, and it was'stated that .the Sports Ground Committee was prepared to allow the New Plymouth Club the use of the ground for the season at a nominal charge „f £.">. the club to look after the upkeep of the playing arena. Mr. Whittle intimated that he would shortly convene a meeting of town clubs to discuss the matter of grounds 4'or the season. It was resolved that all outstanding subscriptions if unpaid by September 23 be posted with the association. It was also deeideil to apply to the Western Park Committee for the use of the Tukapa ground. It was resolved to supplirt the nomination of Mr. Hardy as delegate to the North Tantnaki Cricket Association.
Votes of thanks were accorded to Mrs. Tunibull for donation of a bat, to the Saturday competition, to Mr. A. Cos |' o r a similar donation to the junior eleven. and to Mr. 11. ,T. Price for the use of his room for meetings, and to the retiring officers, to the pic--, ami to the ch.i iman.
