Mr. Willis, in addressing his constituents, claimed that he was still and always would be a Liberal, but he agreed to help the Labor Party on the understanding that no contentious legislation was introduced. There would be no dissolution till there had been a redistribution of seats and readjustment of electoral boundaries. After warmly, attacking Mr. Wade and other Liberals for their attitude, he challenged Mr. Wade to resign and contest the Upper Hunter seat against him.

QUEENSLAND BYE-ELECTIONS. LABOR CANDIDATE DEFEATED. Received 18, 1 a.m. Brisbane, September 17.
Three bye-elections, North Brisbane, Toowong and Rosewood, previously held by , Ministerialists, resulted in Messrs. Welscy, McArtney and Stevens securing good majorities over the Labor candidates. Mr. Gottell. member for Toowang, died, while Mr. McArtney resigned the North Brisbane seat.
