Mr. Willcox questioned the chairman about trying to remove the Hoard's oilier. to Puniho.—The cuairmnn characterised it as ridiculous; such a thing never came up. The clerk was given, for convenience, sake, permission to remove the books on certain days to Opunake, so that settler* at that end could pay their rates at his office, which was a convenience to ratepayers. An account for CO was forwarded by Drs. Mildeiilmll and Wallis asked for repairs to road loading to their section on the top end of Ihaia road. A portion of the road had beeu formed by the Public Trustee some years ago, but was now overgrown with vine berry bush, etc.—A eq>y of the letter will Im forwarded to the Public Trustee, asking him to favorably consider the application, as the Hoard has no money to spend on that portion of the road. A petition was read from a number of settlers, asking the Hoard to reconsider its decision to dispense witli the services of v the stair.—, Mr. Willcox fought strongly against the retention of the old employees, and he and the chairman had a lengthy argument. Eventually a motion asking the foreman to reconsider his resignation was carried, on the casting vote of the chairman, and the foreman agreed to continue in the position. The "sparring" between Air. Willcox and the chairman Jirnke out afresh, and Hies foreman accused Mr. AVillcox of seeking, election on the Board in order to get rid of the foreman, and that the member had asked one of the workmen to keep a diary of the time he (the foreman)' worked, a statement which Mr. Willcox characterised as a base lie. The foreman said his informant would swear to tho truth of the assertion. It was decided to expend £2O in forming and gravelling Kaweora road, nnif I'll) on maintenance of the Ihaia road. It was decided to piiy the three men who worked on Coronation Day. The money had previously been stopped frour their pay sheets.—Abridged from Times.
