FITZROY WARD 01-' THE BOROUGH. The merging of a portion of the Fitzroy wwn district into lliu 'uoiougli was brought before the Borough Council last night by a- letter from the Under-Secre-tary for Internal Affairs, who wrote;— "Referring to the proposed annexation of part of the Fitz rov town district to the borough of New Plymouth, I have the honor, by direction of the Minister of Internal Affairs, to enquire whether it is suggested that the area in question, when so added, should form an additional anil separate ward of the said borough, and, ii so, what number of councillors would be fixed for the said new ward." The Mayor said that, as other suburban districts were discussing the question of merging into the borough, it would not do to make new wards as the merging proposals came in. It would be better to leave it till the Greater New Plymouth scheme was complete, when the ward 'boundaries would be arranged. The town clerk advised setting up a committee to go into the matter, and C'r. Ambury favored this view. After some discussion it was decided that the Minister of Internal Affairs be informed that it is proposed that the portion of Fitzroy to be added will be treaited as a separate ward, to be called the Fitzroy Ward, and. that it be represented .by two councillors.
