SPORTS PROTECTION

A SECRETARY APPOINTED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Mr. Arthur A. Paape, of Invercargill, was to-day appointed by the Board of Control to be secretary of the New Zealand Sports Federation League. There was a very large number of applicants from all parts of New Zealand. The salary is £SOO per annum. Mr. Paape has resided in Invercargill for the last four years, and has been closely identified with sport and athletics. He Is at present secretary of about fourteen institutions, including the Southland Rugby Union, Caledonian Society, Acclimatisation Society, Cycling Club and Hospital Saturday Association. Mr. Paape will take up his new duties on October 1, with headquarters in Wellington.
