Sir John Findlay, interviewed re the statement in the ilawera Star, that he had definitely decided to contest the Egmqnt seat, said the statement was not true. Strong representations had been made to him to contest this seat and he had had similar requests in respect of other electorates. He had the matter WHici consideration, but had not yet decided which seat he would stand for. SIR JOHN FINDLAY. The Eltham Argus says that Sir John Findlay, who was advertised to speak at Eltluim on Monday evening, has been in the doctor's hands since last Monday with a .bad throat, and may not be able to come. The subjects on which be was formally announced to speak were sot forth as follows: What divides the present political parties?; seven ways in which the State ,ean promote, the welfare of the people; what recent and existing legislation can do for the fanner and the worker if it were properly taken advantage of; co-operative banks; general legislation; family settlement and the Budget; how the main local interests of the Egmont district (town and country) can best be advanced. Yesterday morning it was announced that the delivery of the address had been indefinitely postponed.
