Mr. \Y. L, Fitzherbert, of Palmerston North, is on a brief visit to New Plymouth. A Brisbane cablegram reports the death of Mr. James Rutherford, an Australian pioneer, and principal of the firm of Cobb and Company, well-known coach proprietors. A London cablegram states that Lord Snfl'ichl has married Mrs. Rich, the widow of an army officer. Lord Suffield is 81 years of age, and Ims two sons and seven daughters by his firs* marriage.
