TIIK TUKAPA SOCIAL. The Tukapa Football Club held its annual social last night in the Theatre Royal. There was a very good attend-' anee, and the affair passed off most suueessfullv. The M.C.'s, Messrs A. R. Standis'h. K. P. Webster, W. Way and' B. llullot, were most attentive to the guests. Excellent music was provided by Mrs. Woods' line orchestra. The supper was splendidly catered for, and the supper tables were prettily decorated by Miss Stnndish. Members of the Tarannki representative team and some «>f the members of the Auckland team wentpresent. During the evening Mr. F. T. liellringer, president of the Rugby Union, handed to Mr. A. V. Stohr, on behalf of the Tukapa seniors, the Dan (VBrten Shield won by the team this year. Amidst great enthusiasm Mr. BelUinger then presented Mr. H. .1. Mynott, rY>r many years captain of the Tukapa seniors, aiid an interprovincial and international representative, an illuminated address, a gold chain and sovereign-ease, and a set of gold-mounted pipes, as a present from a number of admirers of bis ■ long years of prowess in our national game. Mr. Mynott received the gift with his usual modesty. Messrs Stohr and Mynott then gave the American University team's awful war-cry, "(Jive 'em the axe," amidst great excitement. It was n pleasing interlude in a very pleasant evening's enjoyment.

SAU N-DBRS' PHTORJS. There was a splendid audience last night at Saunders' Pictures in the Good Templars' Hall. It was the largest midweek audience that has attended the Biograph Pictures, and all were well pleaded with the manner in which the pictures were screened. The greater length of the hall than the temporary home of Saunders' Pictures provided barf the efl'ect of enlarging the pictures, and they were splendidly clear and steady. The Templars' Hail is a commodious building, and a very comfortable one, well seated and well ventilated, and seems to lw very suitable, for this class of entertainment. A capital programme was screened, and will be repeated in the same hull to-night. Tomorrow the cinematograph will return to Whiteley Hall, and the usual grand end-of-thc-weck change will he put on.
