As Messrs Barclay and McCarthy were the only nominations for the Dunedin Xortb and Chalmers seats, the local Labor Party approved their candidature. There will be another ballot for Dunedin South and Dunedin Central before the party's selection is finally announced. MR. GRAHAM RETIRING, Nelson, Last Night. Mr. John Graham, M.P., announces that he will not seek re-election in November. Mr. Graham is one of the senior members of the House, having sat continuously for Nelson since 1803. George MacMahan, a well-known farmer, wiH be a candidate as a straight-out Government 'supporter. He is prominently identified with local bodies of ihe district, holding, among other positions, tho chairmanship of the Harbor Board and Charitalble Aid Board, and is also chairman of directors of ■ the Nelson Freezing Company.
