The Herald says Sir Joseph Ward's Budget once again recalls the astonishingly sound and prosperous condition of affairs in New Zealand. Not only is the financial position of the country impregnable, but it becomes stronger every year. Sir Joseph Ward might well claim tlv.it his case is unique. It is interesting to note that the era of academic legislation seems to have passed, and the administration of late has thrown itself more into the actual work of developing the assets of the State. The really grave feature is the disappearance of the Crown lands, as th? problem of finding land for the people has become practically insoluble.
