GENERAL STRIKE NEAR AT HAND. Received 12, 9.30 p.m. Sydney, September 12. The Newcastle Miners' Federation turned down the proposal that miners do the wheeling at Wallsend. Several of the wheelers who were members attended and voted in the negative. The wheelers never before had exercised their right to vote in a Federation matter.

It is now probable that the wheelers arid other miners will give notice to cease work unWss the unforeseen happens. There will soon bo few pits working.
