WOMEN IN HOTELS.
LICENSING BENCH DISAPPOINTED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Yesterday. At a meeting of the Auckland Licensing Committee the sub-inspector stated that the licensees had carried out their promise to refrain from selling drink to women for consumption on hotel premises, in a thoroughly satisfactory way, except in the case of the Edinburgh Castle Hotel. On the nigh# of August 12 he found there ten women and one man drinking liquor at tables ami one woman waiting to be served. Counsel for the licensee said the latter had done his best to fulfil the promisa made, ihut found his custom slipping iMvay. The Bench said they did not want to analyse reasons, and could only say they were disappointed.
