Mr. A. Mcßeth, of Egmont Village, underwent a successful operation in a New Plymouth private hospital yesterday. A Sydney cable reports the death of Mr. Kcdleaf Frederick La&setter, head of the great commercial firm of Lassetter and Co. : Mr. Archibald Ashworth, of Alexandra, is announced as a candidate for the Otago Central seat as an Independent.— Press wire.
