SAU-XDEUS' I'lCTl" RES. That the life of a picture manager is not all a bed of ro.-es, especially in securing the latest star items, was again proved by Mr. Saunders on Saturday, when the star attraction, "A Ticket, in Tatts," failed to catch the mail train at Wellington. It was not until 3 o'clock that an urgent wire arrived with the comforting news that the picture was leaving Christcluirch by Saturday night s boat, anil would arrive in New I'll mouth by Monday's mail train. However, the manager accepted the inevitable, and 1 immediately posted notices, conspicuously, stating that tile picture, would not be shown that night, which the crowd in attendance accepted in good spirit, remarking that evidently Mr. Saunders' luck did nut lay in a ticket iu J'att's. Although the star item wa.s not there, a full complete change of programme was submitted at the ordinary prices, eijual to any tile management have yet screened. Amongst the star dramas was "A Mother'* Roy." a pathetic, story in which a young country lad tries his fortune iu London, onlv to strike on the rocks, and fall in 'with bad companions. After a severe fright by a hind-hearted employer he is pardoned, and returns home with his dear old mother, fully contented to live his quiet country life. The other star dramas were: "The Buried Man of Tibessa.' "The American and the Queen" (a stirring tale of a South American Republic), and a \ itagruph masterpiece, "•Mammy's (ilio-d." a (j ne dramatic war picture, with a touch of comedy, in which a faithful colored woman invents a ghost to resemble her master, to escape. The scenic and industrial items include '-Corean Ports," "Wax Moilelless Paris'' and "('uttle'Mi at Home," showing the life and peculiarities of this strange fish. "The Champion Swordsman ot (he British Army" introduces Stall-Sergeant Eggleton ill a number of exciting contests and feats of skill. The comic numbers were screamers, anil included "Hill as ait Operator," "Love in Quarantine," "Oa'.ino Cools the Crowd" and '"Tweedledum iu Love with the (lenowl's Daughter."
