INGLEWOOD NOTES

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Quite a fair number of people gathered in the Salvation Army Barracks on Tuesday evening. Major Rowley, who is the secretary for the young peopie's work in the North Island, was pay i ing a visit to the local corps. The meeting was of a very interesting character, and was followed by a coffee supper, during which the Major favored the audience with a cornet solo, by request, which was much appreciated. Mrs. McßetK wound up her season's dancing class lat night, with a juvenile fancy-dress ball. A fair numbered gathered. The floor was held by the youngsters until 10 o'clock, when the adults, who had up till that hour been spectators, took up the running, and enjoyed themselves thoroughly until' the small hours of the morning. Amongst the fancy dresses were: Ella Ballantine, Queen of Flowers; Elsie Ballantine, Japanese lady; Madge Evans, Gipsy; Madge Hopson, Twilight; May Fowler, country girl; F. Hopson, skirt dancer; Neil O"0arro11. fairy.; Elsie Thomson, flower girl; E. Drake, soldier; R. Lawson, cadet; C. Thomson. Jack Tar; G. Bennett, Folly; D. Bennett, pack of cards; I. Bennet, fairy; Nellie Carrington, flower girl; E. Hellier, Spring; A. Leslie, Union Jack; K. Leslie, fairy; Ethel Rolston, sunflower; Elsie Rolston, Spanish dancer; J. Ballantine, sailor; H. Ballantine, Pierrot; R. Evans, tennis; H. Julian, Boy Scout; K. Lawson, man-o'-warsman; Raymond Macßeth, Highlander. The Boy Scouts arc having a despatch carrying contest next Thursday, and Bto looking forward to it eagerly, as a lot of fun is anticipated as well a 9 instruction. There is also talk of a drum and fife hand for the hoys. A concert fr» this and other things is to b» held shortly. A good programme is being got together, and all who are interested ia the movement are requested to look out for the date, and attend, A meeting was held in the Werieynn Schoolroom on Thursday evening to open a Good Templars' Lodge. Miss Grimlcy conducted the ceremony. After the initiation of the new members, the following officers were elected and installed:—Chief Templar, Bro. F. Dav; P.C.T., Bro. Gatman; D.C.T., Sis. Day; V.T., Sis. Sutherland; treasurer, Sis. F. Harding; secretary, Sis. E. Bennett; F.S., Bro. Thomas; Chaplain. Sis. Keightley;Sentinel, Bro. B. Vercoo.
