Slock.—At our Oakura yards we held our usual monthly sale. There was a good entry, and most pens were sold at the hammer. Mixed yearlings, 30s 10 48s: steers, email, 30s to 345; good, £2 2s 0d to £2 5s Gd: store cows, £2 15s to £3 16s; empty heifers. £3 15s; springing do, £0 to £9 ss; cows and heifers in milk, £3 15s to £4 ss; springing cows, £7 10s. Fruit.—Supplies have been short this past week, but new shipments of oranges and bananas are due Friday, when prices are expected to be high. Past week prices:—Sturmers, lis 6d; cookers, almost unobtainable, 9s to 10s; bananas, 2d per lb.;, peanuts 2%d per ib.

NEWTON KINO'S REPORT. On Wednesday, the 23rd.. at Mr. S. A. Gooding's sale at Huiakama there was a good attendance of buyers. The cattle did not look at their best, just having come off a long drive, and the majority being old. Earlv calvers made £7 10s to £lO 10s; later, £5 10s to £7; old, £4 to £5 10s; empty, £4 10s; springing heifers, £5 2s 6d to £8- 12s Od; two-year empty heifers. £4 lis; stallion Toiler, £4O. On Thursday. 24th, I held a clearing sale at Toko on account of Mr. A. Campbell, when there was a large attendance of the public. The sundries, furniture, and horses sold well, but there was not such a keen demand for the heifers, which were, not in good condition. Any that had been well done sold well. Prices were: Cows in milk, £8 15s; heifers calved, £5 to £7; twoyear heifers close to profit". £6 2s 6d to £lO ss; later, £4 to £0; yearling heifers, £3 9.«; weaners, 10s; empty heifers. £4 12s to £4 15s; mare, £2B; three-year fill v. £25; two-vear gelding, £2l l'Os; yearling coll. On Friday, 25th. there was a good attendance of the public at Mr. ,T. Robson's clearing sale at Pembroke road. The majority of his cows were aged and sold accordingly, though anything young and forward sold well. Cows in milk and close up, £8 to £l3; old, £2 5s to £6 ss; springing heifers. £0 ss; empty cows, £3 to £3 lrt«: bull. £5; heifers in calf. £3 lis lid to £4 ss; 18-months heifers, £3 7s: yearling heifers. £2 0s 6d. On the same day at .Mr. 11. Putt's clearing sale at Waiongona there was a large attendance, and the cattle, though mostly on the old side, sold well. Young springing cows, £6 10s to £9 10s; old and backward. £2 5s to £(i: pigs and sundries at satisfactory prices.
At Mr. P. Anderson's sale at Tataraimaka, on Monday, there was a good attendance of buyers. Bidding was keen and excellent prices were realised for the cows, which were a nice lot and in good condition, though a number were late, calvers. Young springing cows brought. £8 to £ll ss; old and backward, £3 15s to £7; mare. £2O 10s; gelding. £l4 10s; dray. £2O 10s; gig, £l2 ss: Oakura dairy factory shares 7s fid.
At my usual fortnightly sale at Rahotu on Tuesday, I had a fair entry mostly of springers and young cattle. The demand throughout was not quite so keen for the young cattle, but most lines were quitted at the hammer at fulul market rates. Yearling heifers, £2 2s to £2 Ms; yearling steers, 30s to £2 -Is: weaners. 16s to 255: emptv heifers. £2 14s (Jd to £3 19s: fat cows, £5 7s to £5 17s; springing eows, £4 to £6: sprining heifers. £3 19s to £7 2s (id; heifers in calf and late, £4 to £4 10s; store cows, 36s (id to £3 lis. MATTHEWS AND BENNETT. Matthews and Bennett report a good horse fair at Inglewood last, Friday. Fully the advertised muster came forward, and met with good competition, especially good young horses suitable for farm work. Prices as follows: Draughts, unbroken, £l6 to £22; milkcart horses. £lB to £24: good harness do. £ll to £l6 10s: weeds. £1 5s to £2 Is; and a consignment of saddlery at satisfactory prices. At the marl, on Saturday pigs sola well. Slips, 14s to lfis: store, 25s to 31s. At the stock sale on Wednesday we had a good muster, and bidding wns good for all classes, springers showing an improvement on last week's sale. Prices as follows:—Twenty-months to

Small hoggets, 8s to 9s (id; medium wether hoggets, Ms, 12s, 12s 2d; ewe hoggets, medium, 12s 3d to 13s; fair ewe hoggets, to 14s sd; cull hoggets, 5s Id to lis 6d'; cull ewes, to 6s Id. Cattle: Empty cows, to £3; yearling heifers, to £'2 15s; weaner steers, £2 6s fid; 18-montbs steers, £3 10s. A line of 20-months to two-year steers, £4. JOHNSON VJLLE. Messrs. Abraham and Williams. Ltd., report on their Johnsonville sale, held on Wednesday, as follows: —We offered a good yarding of prime sheep and cattle, which sold at the following prices: Prime heavv bullocks, £l4 2s (id to £ll 15s, and £lO 10s to £!() 13s; . medium bullocks, £9 17s Od to ' £lO ss; prime heavy wethers. 22s to •22s 4d; good wethers, 20s 4d to 21s; light, lis'ad: prime ewes. 19s 3d to 20s. ADDINGTON. Christchurch, August 30. Store sheep: Exceptionally good twotooth halfbred ewes, 19s 3d to 19s Od; four, six and eight-tooths, 13s to 14s 3d; sound-mountii, 10s Gd to lis Od; failing-mouth, 7s fid to lis; ewes and lambs (all counted), 8s id; forward wethers, 13s to 14s lid; merino wethers, 7s 3d; ewe hoggets, 12s lid to 14s; exceptionally good mixed line. 14s lid; others, 9s to 9s Od; and smaller sorts, 7s Gd to Bs. Fat sheep: Prime wethers, 22s to 27s Od; others, IBs 3d to 21s 6d; prftne ewes, 18s to 235; extra, to 24s (id; others, 13s to 17s fid; hoggets, 13s 9d to 18s 3d; merino wethers, 14s (Id to 17s Id; new season's lambs, 15s 9d. < Fat'cattle: Steers made £7 17s Od to £11; extra, to £l4 ss; heifers, to £9 lis Od (equal to 20s to 30s for prime, 35s for extra, 24s to 25s for medium, and for cow and inferior beef 23s Od to 24s per 1001b.). Veal calves made 4s Od to 555, according to size and quality, and except for two-year-olds there was not much sale.
Stove cattle: Yearlings made 255: 15 to IS-months, 33s to (ills; two-year steers, £4 lis to £4'l7s (id; two-year heifers, £4 7s to £4 15s fid; dry cows, 30s to £4 4s; dairy eows made £3 10s to £S 15s.
There was a small entry of fat pigs, and prices showed a sharp rise, the sale being one of the best held for some time. Choppers made up to £5 15s; heavy bacouers,. 60s to 70s; and lighter, 50s to 57s fid (equal to 5y 4 d to 5%d, and in some cases up to (id per lb); large porkers. 37s Od to 47s 0d; smaller, 30s to 30s (equal to Od to 6</ 2 d and up to 7d per lb). Store pigs were entered in larger numbers, and the market was somewhat easier, though the operations of one buyer prevented a decline, Large stores made 28s to 31s; smaller sorts, 15s to 255; and weaners, 8s Od to 13s.
BURNSIDE. Dunedin, August 30. At Burnside to-day 195 fat cattle were yarded. At the start of the sale prices were, if anything, a little better than those ruling last week, and though it was anticipated that owing to the large yarding prices would be easier towards the close, the market was firmer throughout. Best bullocks. £l2 to £l3 10s; extra to £l4 7s fid; medium, £lO 10s to £ll 15s; best heifers, £8 to £9; extra to £ll 17s 0d; medium, £6 10s to £7 15s. Fat sheep: Four thousand and eightysix were penned. This large yarding was composed chiefly of prime wethers with a few pens of medium quality ewes. Prices for really prime heavy wethers were about Is above last week's rates, but medium and unfinished sorts were elose on Is easier. Prime wethers, 22s to 245; extra, to 20s; medium, 18s 6d to 20s; light, 12s 9d to 16s (id. Hoggets: Only a few wero yarded, and these sold at late rates. Best, 15s 6d to 10s 9d; medium, 14s 6d. Pigs: There was a small yarding, and as competition was keen throughout, prices were better than last week's rates.
