"TEE HAPPY FAMILY." The Theatre Royal was again w«B fiHed last night, when the West End School children repeated the performance ot "The Happy Family." The children entered into the proceedings with the tame zest as on the previous evening, and again succeeded in delighting, the audience. Prior to the performance the Garrison Band played several selections. The takings for both nights u/mouiiteil to about £7O. Prior to the conclusion, Mr. H. J. Gilbert, chairman of the school committee, in a very happy and humorous speech, returned than'ks, assisted by "Tip." His thanks list was a very long one, and included: Miss Keys, for taking the part of "Old Woman"; the mothers who helped with dresses and sewing; the orchestra; Miss HaHett, for helping with the march; the Misses Buckman, Messrs. T. Johnson and Guy for help with dressing boys; Mr. Crust for use of his piano for practices; Mr. Brooks, for his help with staging, etc.; Messrs. Milne and Smart, for the swing; Mrs. Roy, Mrs. Kirlcby, Mrs. Brydon, Mr. and Mrs. Hawker, Mr. Campbell and Mr. Buttimore, for seats, tables, plants and flowers; Miss Dowling, for paying during weeks of practice; Mr. Hoffmann, for use of piano for entertainment; and the Garrison Band; for playing. To these, he stated, was due the fact that the school now possessed a piano free of debt, Whereas it was only six weeks ago that the purchase of such an instrument was even suggested. The children were also granted a holiday from school until Monday next. SAUNDERS* BIOGRAPH. The Whlteley Hall was quite lull last night, when an excellent programme was shown. One of the' best pictures details the adventures of a mild botanist, who cannot win a girl because he isn't quite "manly" enough. He, however, "goes west," and happens to bo wandering around! when a "barf, man" i 9 operating, and after terrific combats captures him. There are sheriffs and revolvers and bard riding inthis picture, A beautifirlly-told picture storv i» "Winning the Stepchildren," in which a couple of children act with the natural aptitude. This is a heert-searcher of a pronounced type. The soap-stone industry is a film depicting a most interesting (business, from quarry to finished article. "On the Edge of tlw Desert* is a moving drama, in which the principals are splendidly proficient. The. remainder of the programme is of even excellence.
