BOROUGH COUNCIL.

ADJOURNED MEETING. The adjourned meeting of the New Plymouth Borough Council was held last night, when there were present: The Mayor and Councillors Ambnry, Buttimore, Clarke, lliirlnell a-nd Mannix. AVKXrK ROAD RESERVE. The position of the Avenue road reserves leases was discussed,' and it was resolved that the resolution passed $n December 12, ISIIfI, fixing the upset rental at 4 per tent, of the capital value, bo rescinded, and a further resolution fixing the upset rentals at -2'/ 2 per cent, on .the capital value as set out by the towp clerk, was carried. This gives an annfyil rental, if all are, disposed at the upset, of £243 l.is. The rentals range from £3 15s to Cl2- 10s, according to value of Election.

It was also resolved to rescind tlje resolution passed on December 12, 1910, instructing that no compulsory building clauses be inserted in the conditions of lease, and on the motion of Crs. Ambury and Mannix it was decided that the question of fixing the value of buildings to be erected on each section be referred back to the Reserves Committee for further consideration. GREATER NEW PLYMOUTH.

A letter was received from Mr. A. C. Downes conveying a copy of a resolution passed at a meeting' of the Frankley Road and Frankleigh Park settlers, asking that the Mayor and the Town Clerk attend a meeting of residents .of that locality, with a view to obtaining further information on the subject.— The request will be acceded to. The Council went into committee to discuss details. ELECTRIC LIGHT EXTENSION 7 . The action of the Mayor in arranging for the carting of 300 cubic yards of gravel to the power house at as 3d per yard was confirmed; and the action of the electrical engineer in pulling down a prospecting shaft for the tail race was also confirmed. . GENERAL. . It was resolved on the motion of Crs. Ambury and Clarke, that the letter from the Fire Board suggesting that by-laws be made dealing with precautions to be taken for the prevention of fire in connection with cinematograph, biograph and other lantern entertainments, be referred to a sub-committee consisting of the Mayor and Crs. Hartiipll and Mannix. to report on. The application of residents of MacLean street, Fitzroy, for extension of water mains, was referred to the Works Committee to report on. H. J. Wells was granted the use of Fillis street, between Carrington road and Victoria, road, on payment of 10s per annum.
