AN ABORTIVE CONFERENCE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. No agreement was come to between the master printers and the Typographical Federation after a two days' conference with regard to wages, hours, and general conditions of work. One of the principal claims was that the jobbing: compositors should receive ■ the same wages and work the same hours of employment as linotype operators. The case will go before the Conciliation Council, but "there is no probability of settlement there, and the Arbitration Court will eventually be asked to frame an industrial award. Both side 9to the dispute thanked Mr. Hally, the Conciliation Commissioner, for his assistance in the questions submitted to the conference.
