THE NEW HEBRIDES

A lIOWLIXG FARCE AND FAILURE. By Oablc —Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, August 25.: The Rev. Mr. Paton, the well-known missionary, and Dr. Bowie, superintendent of the Amdrim Hospital, have arrived from the New Hebrides. Both state that the condominium is a howling faree and failure. The British keep the law, but the French do not. Both gentlemen agree that none of the previous reports were in any way exaggerated, and state that the entente cordiale is humbug so far as the New Hebrides is concerned. Residents call the court at Vila the "bazaar," and go there for amusement; it is so funny. They take lunch, and stay all day.

Dr. Bowie is going direct to the British Foreign Office with a definite charge, supported by documents.
